Our Top Recommendations for Lunch

Let's start with lunch, as there are some great options for dining that won't break the bank. These places are not in town, because as lovely as the centre of town is, they tend to get busy around this time of day and it can be hard to find a seat, especially for bigger groups. But don't worry, each of our recommendations is no more than a 15-20 minute drive away from town.

Cargo Cellar Door

First up is Cargo Brewery. This place is great for a group because they have a variety of function spaces that can accommodate big groups from 15 to 60 seated guests. The food here is top-notch pub grub and they have a huge range of craft beers, so you're sure to find something to your taste. They're also kid-friendly so if you have little ones in tow, this is a great option.

Amisfield

Next on our list is Amisfield, a rustic-chic winery within a posh setting. This place has an amazing atmosphere and the staff are super friendly; the team remains proud of its local ingredients sourced from people with a commitment to sustainability and ethical farming practices. It's perfect for fine dining and pairings with friends or family, with a private dining room available for about 20 people. The food here is modern regional New Zealand cuisine, and featured on the menu is a three-course "trust the chef" option.

Akarua Wine and Kitchen

If you're looking for an engaging garden and courtyard setting that can cater to private functions and can seat up to 40 guests (both indoors and outdoors), then Akarua Wine and Kitchen is the place for you. This spot is known for its stunning location and views, as well as its amazing food and wine that are as delicious as they are beautiful.

Nest Kitchen & Bar

Nest, located inside Kamana Lakehouse, is a great option for those wanting something more casual with an industrial-chic vibe. This is a perfect place for lunch and drinks with friends. The service is always friendly and wonderful. They have an impressive menu and the food is beautifully presented, divine to the palate. Go here for the best views in Queenstown, you won't regret it!

The Dishery

Next on the list is The Dishery, situated in Arrowtown. This is a great spot for both small and large groups, as they have both an indoor and outdoor seating area. The food here is healthy, wholesome and made with love. They use fresh, local ingredients and their menu change seasonally. This means that you'll always be able to try something new, and there are always great vegetarian/vegan options available.

Jack's Point Clubhouse

Last but not least on our lunch list is Jack's Point Clubhouse, which is a 15-minute drive out of town. This stunning location with floor-to-ceiling windows situated next to an award-winning golf course offers panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables mountain range. The menu here is varied and has something for everyone, from burgers and pizzas to more gourmet fare. They also have a great selection of local wines that you shouldn't miss.
